Civil War Soldier’s Bible

This bible is identified to Edwin P. Getchell from Vallalboro Maine. He sn not only at served in the 3rd and 17th ME Infantries and saw heavy action not only at Gettysburg but Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, Sportsylvania Court House, Cold Harbor and Petersburg campaigns. The inside from cover reads, “Edwin P. Getchell Vassalboro Maine.” The inside rear cover reads, “Edwin P Getchell Vassalboro Maine U.S. Vol Army.” The inside front cover reads, “This was presented to him by his Mother on the eve of his starting from Augusta ME for the War. November 20th 1862.”


He specifically fought at Gettysburg wit the 3rd Maine and saw heavy engagement on July 2 at the Peach Orchard. There is an additional small note detailing the Testament was passed down to a future generation. Extensive research accompanies this volume.

In nice condition, this is a perfect Civil War artifact for the old Bible collector, Gettysburg collector and military collector.
